Some years ago, I wrote, ‘In Pakistan, every politician goes to bed at night with the dream that he would wake up next morning as the Prime Minister.’
Similarly, I’d say today that, ‘Every journalist in Pakistan goes to bed every night with the thought that he would wake up next morning as the Information Minister or as Chairman of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).’
Not only I repeated my above statement over the years but Pakistan’s 60 years history is witness that these two classes of Pakistan (Politicians & Journalists) have proved that I was right.
In fact, Pakistan is a weird country. In many ways it is different than almost any other country in the world. You can find the dirtiest and the ugliest people in Pakistan. You can find the most conscienceless, dheet, beghairat, the greediest and the most corrupt people in Pakistan. The unique quality of the Pakistani people is that, ‘every single ************ has a price’. The only thing needed is that you have the money to buy him!
Dr. Shahid Masood, who basically has a background of National Students Federation (NSF of People’s Party) is a failed surgeon by profession. He got attracted some 7-8 years ago toward journalism. His thinking was that journalism brings in a lot of money. He remained with ARY ONE WORLD and then joined GEO TV.
In Pakistani politics, if you want to succeed or you want to grow and reach some top government position or you want to make lots of money, you have to abuse, curse and shoot at the government, the military, and the Establishment or give a big shit to the United States (what Imran Khan, Aitzaz Ahsan, Mirza Aslam Baig, Hameed Gul, Talat Hussain, Nusrat Javed (Aaj TV), Hamid Mir (Geo), Dr. Shahid Masood (ex-Geo now PTV) are doing and did.
The present Pakistani ambassador to the U.S., Hussain Haqqani, Q-League Information Secretary Mushahid Hussain and the recently appointed Dr. Shahid Masood as Chairman of PTV are some the Beghairats (conscienceless) ************s who rose from journalism and reached to lucrative positions.
I am sure few more like Kamran Khan, Hamid Mir, Talat Hussain, Ansar Abbasi are also dreaming about waking up one fine morning to get some good news from Zardari.
But my question to these freaks is this: Why don’t you learn a lesson from Benazir Bhutto, Z. A. Bhutto, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Ziaul Haque, Sheikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Idi Amin, Shah of Iran and many others who. Despite hundreds of millions of dollars died miserably. Not only these new wannabes are deepening their graves while they are alive but would leave hell for their children and survivors.
Congratulations Dr. Shahid Masood. But be assured that your position is connected to Asif Zardari and Peoples Party. The life of PPP is not too long and I suggest you book your house in Dubai or London in advance so that when you are dismissed from PTV by the next government, you won’t be able to have a program like “Terey Mutabiq”!
Shame on you. You were delivering sermons and lectures against the government and fell in the lap of the same government, Zardari and Rehman Malik, just for the sake of money and post to kiss their backs and lick their boots.
I would suggest to the others, Talat Hussain, Nusrat Javed, Hamid Mir, Kamran Khan and Ansar Abbasi to learn a lesson from Dr. Shahid.

Right from the day the pvt channels have come along they have brought in a lot of bayghairti for sure.. just for instance see, that geo portrays every bad thing done by musharraf govt, they bring to the notice a lot of bad things happening in the country, and at saturday night .. oh la la .. they bring in Indian Film Awards, and let our nation see kareena dancing semi nude.. is this what the media is for ?? I can’t believe what I heard about my hero Dr. Shahid Masood. I live in America and visited Dubai just meet him and didn’t get chance to see him. I am a student of Journalism and I can’t take any decision without hearing from him. I’ll still wait for his expelanation. Doc, if you don’t come out with very very good explanation, you don’t know what you have done? How many people you have hurt. I know I have very slight chance to be optimist but I’ll untill I har from him.

Many of the comments above are as pathetic as they claim everyone else to be. Wait for a prophet you idiots because many of you are speaking just like Prophet Musaa’s followers; complaining about everything all the time.
It is probably true that Shahid Masood was bought out by lucrative deal. But there are many people who are making effort to improve situation and I don’t have doubt in their (at least some) efforts; unless they provide me with a reason otherwise.
It is easy to complain and point out all the corruption done by army, bureaucrats, and politicians. But is the solution, an iron man who will kill 50000 as suggested by one of the idiots above? Com on. At least talk decent (even if you are not).
Pakistan is in miserable condition. We can’t expect things to turn 180 degrees tomorrow, in a month, or even in a year. Recent civil society awakening, and election results with all the rigging are very promising signs; and I would rather be optimistic than pessimistic, depressed, angry, and revengeful all the time.

I think the language of you people could have been better and decent.
While you are lamenting these tv hosts, kindly consider the columnists of some groups(especially Jang), who are as though born to moan and weep. Never I hear any optimism from these people. Hassan Nisar is rich person himself and speaks as though he is the poorest and effected by the inflation; never speaks good. Naji on the other hand is self-boosted and respected by Jang and Geo, and he is the regular guest(rather special guest) in every other talk show with only appreciating himself and his previous columns. I am sure if these people are given oppertunity, they won’t waste a second to behave more bad than Sher Afghan.
Where as Shahid Masood is concerned I would say that mind of human is so complex to understand. You can never tell what someone is up to. But the man has some weaknessess, that is, his plans, ill or good, can’t remained hidden for long, if he has plans to implement them. So you can’t say, what Shahid Masood was up to when he started journalism, but his recent deeds proved he was a money seeker; these are the facts, and one can’t deny them. Further more, there is no explanation from his side on this account.
While Geo is indeed a channel I don’t like; the reason is they are over confident and think others are inferior and even don’t invite guests from other newspapers or channels. Their behaviour towards audience is also unmannered, especially the programme 50minutes.

Mr. Sulman Manssor as u talking about Pakistan and leaders of Pakistan and the journalists who stay in “Jails” and there programs are banned by the Pakistani Old government they have done a lot of sacrifices for Pakistan and they want to give pure news to Pakistanies, u r just against of them because I think so u r a wrong person n don’t want to hear actual things that are happening in Pakistan. I like this string of messages, seems like an outlet where we can release some of our frustation.
Who could be the best leader of Pak, I believe Imran Khan, but he will never succeed since only 10% people are literate and out of that 10%, 2% are corrupt or already in the goveronment.
This is shame to see Bhutto or even Nawaz and C0 in power, these people have been tested, they failed, they are corrupt , wouldn’t do anything for our country. One of the comment was to get rid of 5K families from Pakistan and then Pakistan would be fine. I kind of agree with that. They should be kicked out of the country.
I must say one thing that GEO played a major role in failure of Pres Mushruf, expecially shame on Hamid Mir and Co, they never acknowledged the good things he did for this country, Judges and lal hawaili incident was blown out of proportion. The lal Hawaili people were heard all over the world, they wanted so called Shadat and they got what they wanted, why Mushruf is responsible for their act ? I liked the guy, very gusty, might have made few mistakes, but he was much better than all these politicians.

I feel extremly sorry and disgrace for what Dr. Shahid has done. I always consider him a brave and good gentle man. But shame shame and I believe its very tiny word to describe him on his act. Have they ever spoken of the foreign hand involved in the insurgency in Balouchistan and Tribal Areas. Have they ever spoken about the bravery of 100s of soldiers martyred in these actions. Do u really think that they dont need our medias support , ask someone who has lost a family member in these operations that how he feels when a corrupt Cheif Justice gets hours and hours of coverage and his fallen loved one is ignored of his rightful admiration. We started cursing Dr. Shahid with out giving him a chance to clear his position this is against Islamic principles. We used abusive language which is most unlike by true Muslim. We cursed our T.V. channels but didn’t see who is working there? Pakistanis.

I dont know Dr. Shahid personally but I salute him for what he did during Earth quack for Pakistanis. Just give him the time then decide about him. Every one has the right to take the chance for his well being unless that is “Halaal|.

You know when Pak army launched an operation on Lal masjid, how many family were deprived from their love ones? I am not in favour of any one but just tell me is it the only way to handle this problem? if I would be in the place of decision makers, I would promise to them for safe passage and when they came out, I will arrest them latter because in this world of technology, no one could escape from strong surveillance by electronic gadgets. the reaction was obvious here also the lack of planing comes in the way. ASK to all, reagarding Salman’s comments, generally I do agree most of his analitic summerization. Dr. Shahid Masood its hard to beleive without facts. Actually its otherway around, he talks openly against any person without fear. He was appointed Chair for PTV and he did exposed PTV. and He was Offered Fed. ministry but he refused. So I guess you was prematured to blame and accused him. Most of the time if a person leave one organization if his/her reputation is bad, corrupt or untrustworthy impossible to back same place again. But We all saw Dr. Shahid Masood is back to GEO and running his program successfully masses loves his program and political comments. Dr. lets consider ourselves, where we are standing. If this cruility is not stopped we will also be hel answerable, you would also be asked why did you repeatedly invite in your programes such people which could not deliver a balace view. let us balance our selves and do not become the followers of unbalanced people. please please let us save this country, Dr. you may run from here, you may continue or joine this or other TV network but I have no other place except this mother land.

I think from his show he has to study a lot of history and history some times confuse you . We cannnot make any analogy from one event of history . History is changing with time . Pakistan cannot progress without midle class and we need law and order and peice and a sound economy to bring the real change in people life . We need people from midle class to have the power to bring the change from aristrcracy to the common people .New leaders will emerge from the student union

After reading all the above comments, i’m remembering the poetery of “Faiz Ahmed Faiz” titled “Hum jo tareek Rahon pe mare gye”.
I’m not going to criticize u people in the way u did to Dr. but i’m feeling so sad on ur reaction without knowing the reasons and his view point of joining the PTV. If our polititions & journalists are not good & responsible people then what sort of resposibility we are showing by giving such kind of comments without knowing the reality and using such harsh language.
